Salam model from branes

چکیده
We explore the possibility of embedding the Pati–Salam model in the context of Type I brane models. We study a generic model with U(4) C × U(2) L × U(2) R gauge symmetry and matter fields compatible with a Type I brane configuration. Examining the anomaly cancellation conditions of the surplus abelian symmetries we find an alternative hypercharge embedding that is compatible with a low string/brane scale of the order of 5 −7 TeV, when the U(4) C and U(2) R brane stack couplings are equal. Proton stability is assured as baryon number is associated to a global symmetry remnant of the broken abelian factors. It is also shown that this scenario can accommodate an extra low energy abelian symmetry that can be associated to lepton number. The issue of fermion and especially neutrino masses is also discussed.

Supersymmetric Pati-Salam Models from Intersecting D-Branes
We explore supersymmetric Type I string-motivated three-family scenarios in which the Standard Model is embedded within two sets of intersecting D branes with U(1)-extended Pati-Salam gauge groups. We study a model inspired by the Shiu-Tye Type IIB orientifold, in which a three-family scenario is obtained by assuming that the gauge symmetry breaking takes place in two stages; the Pati-Salam gro...
متن کاملModel building with intersecting D6-branes on smooth Calabi-Yau manifolds
We study intersecting D6-branes in Calabi-Yau manifolds that are smooth hypersurfaces in weighted projective spaces. We develop the techniques for calculating intersection numbers between special Lagrangian sub-manifolds defined as fixed loci of anti-holomorphic involutions. We present global Pati-Salam and MSSM-like models that are supersymmetric up to a decoupled hidden sector. ∗email: palti@...

متن کامل3 - Branes and Uniqueness of the Salam - Sezgin Vacuum
We prove the uniqueness of the supersymmetric Salam-Sezgin (Minkowski) 4 ×S 2 ground state among all nonsingular solutions with a four-dimensional Poincaré, de Sitter or anti-de Sitter symmetry. We construct the most general solutions with an axial symmetry in the two-dimensional internal space, and show that included amongst these is a family that is non-singular away from a conical defect at ...
